State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIPs) provide personalized counseling and assistance to 43 million Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers who need help navigating the increasingly complex health care system, including the Medicare program. If you have any questions about Medicare coverage and benefits--including Medigap policies, Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, and Medicare Summary Notices--contact the SHIP in your state or territory for more information. Learn more About SHIPs.

Residents of nursing homes, board and care homes, and assisted living facilities can contact a long-term care ombudsman program located in every state, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
